Paris!

Paris!

To start, I have to say that I found Paris to be a huge let-down. The streets were filled with garbage, the people were rude… Our hostel in particular was the pits: Unheated bathrooms, no sinks (faucets over garbage cans), extra charges for everything. Paris was expensive in some respects (4 euros for a coffee!?) but cheap in others (5 euros for a whole chicken, 0.80 euros for a baguette). As evidenced by the photos, Europe loves gold ;)

Eiffel Tower, day 1: Yeah... It's back there somewhere

L'Arc de Triomphe: My favourite monument

Eiffel Tower, day 2: Still foggy

On Pont Aléxandre: My favourite statue of all of Europe

Obelisk and a ferris wheel at the end of the Champs d'Élysées

At the Louvre. Unfortunately, I didn't learn about FB's secret staircase until after I came back

Notre Dame! Very small by today's standards but impressive when you remember how old it is

I call this photo: A picture frame made of picture frames

Paris and Versailles were patrolled by military police. No one seemed fazed.

The first clear photo :)

Notice how the letters are not in the standard order

Leaving Paris, finally!

Next Friday, Edinburgh!

  1. Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that Paris wasn’t what you had hoped for… it’s on my list to visit (although not a top-of-the-list kind of place for me). Do you think you would’ve had a better time if the hostel came through? I know that when I travel, the places I stay in have a huge impact on how favorably I view the trip. Don’t have to be luxurious, but I definitely need sinks!
